Hypercholesterolaemia / Type 2 Diabetes Clinic

Dr Sumana Gidwani is Consultant Chemical Pathology/ Metabolic Medicine at northern health and social care trust. She has special interests in Lipids and Type 2 Diabetes and as a Chemical Pathologist, provides expert interpretation of biochemistry laboratory results and clinical advice. She is the clinical lead for the Regional Bowel Cancer Screening laboratory at Causeway.

She graduated from the NTR university of health sciences (India). She had been awarded Membership of the Royal college of physicians of Ireland in General Medicine in year 2005. She completed her postgraduate training in the United Kingdom as a specialist in chemical pathology/metabolic medicine training and awarded the FRCPath ( UK) in 2013. She has completed the post graduate certificate in clinical education in 2021/22 with distinction and actively involved with undergraduate medical teaching.

She was appointed a Substantive Consultant in 2014 at Northern Health and Social Care Trust where she continues to work.

Dr Gidwani specialises in the management of patients with high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes and interpretation of common blood test.
